Rolling mix concrete checklist

The Rolling Mix concrete checklist includes sections noted below. Speak to your Rolling Mix contact(s) for information and details specific to your job and site location. Rolling Mix has an earned reputation and track record for special situations and requirements. No pour is the same. Use this Checklist as a planning tool to ensure collectively we meet your expectations and specifications.

Project & Quantity Details

Dimensions

Length, width, and depth of your project will determine the total cubic metres (or yards) of concrete needed. Speak to a Rolling Mix representative for an estimate on your next project.

Waste Margin

Industry averages are typically 5-10% of your total volume but no two projects are the same. Waste helps account for uneven surfaces, minor calculation errors, scope creep and potential spills.

Mix Design/Type

Work with Rolling Mix expertise and determine compressive strength (PSI) and workability (slump) for your specific project. For example, a commercial foundation versus a residential driveway.

Admixtures

Do you need specific properties or characteristics? Work with Rolling Mix to develop a final spec (additives) that are required for your mix design and specific properties.

Delivery & Site Logistics

Site Accessibility

Your pour site must be accessible to large ready-mix trucks with enough room for staging and the potential use of other equipment like pumps. Commercial projects require logistics and plans for crew access.

Delivery Schedule

It seems like an easy one but customers must be responsible for providing correct delivery addresses, delivery windows/timeframes, and unique details to the site to ensure your construction schedule is maintained.

Communication

Projects go well when communication is abundant. From safety and delivery to completion, Rolling Mix will do its part to ensure all items are communicated with tasks and action items.

Order Confirmation & Best Practices

Advance Notice

Plan your project and order well in advance. The construction ‘season’ can be short and concrete is an integral component of any construction schedule; in short, capacity gets booked quickly. Plus, concrete needs to be poured within a specific timeframe after batching, coming back in a week is not an option.

Final Note

Rolling Mix dispatchers are an integral part of the Rolling Mix team, and people you will work with during the day(s) of your pour; think of them as traffic controllers with hour by hour responsibilities.
